Hey Main Families!  Beavercreek City Schools has come up with a wonderful plan to honor the graduating seniors, Class of 2020.  Over the span of 7 days, each senior, along with 5 family members will have the opportunity to graduate at the high school.  The district is working tirelessly to make this a special and memorable occasion.   After they graduate, they will be exiting the building through a hallway that the district would like help decorating!  Here is your opportunity to send well wishes to the class of 2020!  If you would like to participate, please decorate a poster, either the 11x14 size or the bigger 22x28 size!  Please keep it generic!  Things like "Congratulations Seniors", "Beavercreek loves you", "We are proud of you" "Creek Strong" "Job Well Done" "Best wishes", "Class of 2020" or similar greetings!

Posters can be dropped off next week at Main during the drop off/pick up of school supplies.  We will have a bin to collect signs.
If you have any questions, email us at mainpto1@gmail.com

Main PTO
Hello, Main Beavers!
Since we cannot be together at this time, beginning today, May 11th, we will start our virtual field day week! In the attachments below, you will find activity descriptions, a scorecard, and a list of materials. Our Virtual Field Day is COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY, so you may complete as many or as few of the activities as you would like to during the week. The activities can be done with objects that you can find around your house and most can be done indoors or outside. Also, if you do not have an item, feel free to be creative and substitute as best as you can with what you have.
The scorecard is also for your own personal use and you do not have to fill it out or upload it to Google classroom.

If you choose to participate in this field day, I encourage you to take a picture or two as you compete in your events and submit them. You may do this through the 'assignment' via Google classroom or by email. If you choose to email them, please send them to julie.lehman@beavercreek.k12.oh.us - We will create a slideshow of the pictures we receive from the field day activities as a celebration of the event and the completion of our online learning activities for the school year. I hope that you enjoy your field day and I can’t wait to see everybody in action during their field day events.

See the attachments to use below.
Main Elementary would like to recognize everyone out there who are considered essential workers. Those are our medical professionals, our police officers, our firefighters and paramedics, our restaurant workers, our grocery store workers, our store clerks and the many, many other people who are out there working every day so we can have the services we need. Maybe you even have one of those #FrontlineHeroes living at your houseLet’s be sure to include them too.

Wartinger Park Survey

As you are aware, all of our Grade 3 students receive an important portion of their curriculum by visiting Wartinger Park for living history. If you have had the opportunity to visit the park with your children, you were able to experience firsthand the living history program which provides students an opportunity to experience the 1800's in Beavercreek. Hundreds of tools were on display in the barn and were labeled with their purpose. Many hands-on opportunities were provided by Historical Society volunteers.

Wartinger Park was one of the places that experienced substantial damage (the historic Zimmer barn and many trees) during the tornado. The Parks Dept has shared this survey to determine whether an historical replica of the barn should be built or whether to convert this space to a different kind of shelter.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/wartingerbarn

HISTORICAL THINKING AND SKILLS HERITAGE Content Statements:
1. Events in local history can be shown on timelines organized by years, decades and centuries.
2. Primary and secondary sources can be used to show change over time.
3. Local communities change overtime.

Please consider communicating to the Parks Department whether you value rebuilding a replica for future use by our schools.

Hi Main Families!
I hope this message finds you and your family well.  Tomorrow we will begin week 2 of our distance learning.  On the school calendar, we are not in school on Friday, April 10th in observance of Good Friday.  Therefore, students will only have four days of lessons and spirit wear challenges.
We have enjoyed seeing your kids taking part in our virtual spirit week so please keep those pictures coming!  It's a great way to see their smiling faces!

Take Care!

Hi Main Families!
Attached you will find our April Newsletter as well as a short questionnaire for you to fill out.  We are beginning to plan for next year and this survey helps us in regards to staffing and class placements.  This just gives us some preliminary data.  We understand that things may change and can always make necessary adjustments. The questionnaire can also be found on the News section on Main's Homepage.

Be Well!
Mrs. Nachlinger
Main Families!
Since we are participating in distance learning this week, we also thought we should enjoy a spirit week too.  Even though we are apart, we are going to try and keep it fun! So, please join in as much as you would like and send a picture to share with everyone if you don't mind.
Also, your child's teacher reached out to see what your technology needs may be while we are doing distance, online learning.  If you have already reached back out, we want to thank you!!  If you haven't done so already, please do this as soon as possible.  As a district, we are compiling a list so that we can address these barriers to learning at home.  We want to help out as much as we can and the information you provide us is greatly appreciated!

Stay healthy!
Sharma Nachlinger

The Beaver Hut will be open for business starting Oct. 18th.  This is a completely student-run school store with various items for sale.  Fifth-grade students purchase items, keep track of inventory, count money from sales and calculate profit.  The Beaver Hut will be open during lunch recess on Oct. 18th for grades K-2 and on Oct. 25th for grades 3-5.  The grade levels that can shop will alternate Fridays throughout the year.  Make sure your child listens to announcements and check the website calendar to see what grade levels can shop. Please send in money with your child in a ziploc bag or envelope labeled with their name and Beaver Hut. This will help avoid confusion as to what the money is for. See the attached list for prices of some items that are available to purchase. All profits made go back to Main PTO!  Last year, the Beaver Hut was able to raise over $2000 for PTO!
